XXIII Portuguese Government
Visual Identity System

The Government of Portugal is communicating increasingly online, as citizens nowadays expect.
To better adapt to today’s digital world, our XXIII Government decided to update its visual identity.
The design synthesized key national symbols in a way better suited to online platforms.
The logo seeks inspiration from elements of the national flag, making a deliberate effort not to confuse or interfere with it’s status, dignity and representativeness. It was simplified into an abstract, exempt form, in order to represent the Executive of the Portuguese Republic.

Visual Identity System
Developed in the first half of 2023, the new brand was designed to be more dynamic and operative in a digital environment, integrating all the graphic elements necessary to be applied at any scale and on any medium.
Another fundamental element of the project was the creation of a font exclusive to the Portuguese Republic. “Portuguesa”, designed by Dino dos Santos, comprises serif and sans serif versions.
