Founded in 1918 in the heart of Porto, Ach. Brito is a portuguese heritage brand whose iconic products became part of our identity. In addition to the excellent artisanal production of its soaps and memorable fragrances, we have grown accustomed to recognizing and admiring the design of its packaging. From hand-painted labels to the lithography workshop, the brand’s commitment to aesthetic quality has produced a rich catalogue that continues to inspire. For all these reasons, our responsibility in redesigning the brand was as great as our enthusiasm behind it.
The new Ach. Brito logo is exclusively typographic. It references—and pays homage to—the brand name painted on the façade of the old factory, originally located in the center of Porto. This heritage reference is updated through the adoption of the Plaak typeface, whose chosen weight presents morphological similarities to the original inscription, while also ensuring the brand functions appropriately across various media.
The project also involved redesigning the original isotype, or “seal.” Recognizable by the floral motif set within an octagon, its shape was simplified and its proportions balanced to better meet the demands of the packaging.
