Esporão Reserva is a special edition wine which each year features the best, most distinctive qualities of Alentejo wines. Each year, a different artist is commissioned by Esporão to produce artwork for the labels, adding an extra layer to the wines’ unique character. For this edition, the invitation was addressed to the brand’s longtime designer and collaborator, Eduardo Aires, who for the past 17 years has been art directing wine and olive oil packaging and design communication for Esporão.
Eduardo Aires chose a conceptual approach based on light and colour, where a vibrant metallic gradient of green to burgundy takes over the labels, across the different bottles of the range.
The resulting spectrum of luminous colours evokes sensations of taste and sight and amplifies the wine’s complexity, in an innovative approach to wine label design.
