Sovina

Beverages, 2019

Sovina is a pioneer brand of Portuguese artisanal beer, crafted by Esporão since 2018. The project began in 2009, with a brewery dedicated to training and providing equipment and raw materials for home-brewing. Later, after developing experimental batches and refining recipes, the first Sovina beers were produced and bottled, using only natural ingredients. Over time, Sovina became a reference in the premium beer sector in Portugal. When Esporão bought the company, the cursive logo and the labels were redesigned, preserving the brand’s very recognisable identity.

Respecting that legacy, the intervention on the logo slightly corrected its shape and balance. The previous brown bottles were kept, but the labels changed significantly. A different circle of block colour was adopted to clearly identify each one of the varieties: 500, Ipa, Lager, Stout, Amber and Trigo. They are now printed on Tyvek, particularly resistant to the condensation droplets likely to appear on a bottle of crisp cold beer. The soft texture enhances the tactile experience of holding the bottle and adds an extra layer to the artisanal production process. The new label design also include illustrations to complement the narrative and emphasise the work involved in craft activities.
